Training Staff at Oz Wagtails

When considering a trainer for your dog - look no further than the amount of talent here at Oz Wagtails.  The members of staff have so much experience gained from their own personal achievements and from helping others, its not hard to see why we get great results.

A trainer should have vast amount of experience so they can help you with any behaviour or training problem.  No point asking a person who has only trained a dog in puppy class to solve a problem of an adult dog - they can't help you - because they have no experience in this area.

Our staff here at Oz Wagtails have undergone intensive training in areas of obedience and dog behaviour.  A minimum of 12 months initial training which includes dog phychology, behaviour plus a good knowlege of different training methods is undertaken by each member.  In addition to the many acheivements which they have gained by walking the talk they teach.

Andrea has also been training with Oz Wagtails since it started back in 1991.  Andrea is no stranger to the many levels of obedience has to offer,  a competitor in the obedience ring some years ago, and now a mother of five, she fully understands how important dog training is in the modern family.  A lover of German Shepherds, she owns a black (working  line) Shepherd and has now ventured into the small dog world with her little Terrier x, Star.  Star is a great house dog that woes them all with her tricks and good manners.

Anthony is one of the long serving trainers, having started with us in 2000 after training his then dog aggressive cattle dog.  Having loved our training methods, he so wanted to be a dog trainer and joined us in 2001.  Now Anthony shares his household with 3 Siberan Huskies, and together with his wife they have excelled in the show and breeding world.

Khylie first came to Oz Wagtails to train her then Labrador puppy. Khylie has continued her training as well as became an instructor in 2003. A well credited training instructor with the Qld Government, she brings her fantastic training skills to the classes she teaches.  Khylie is primarily based at Mitchelton but also helps out at our Sumner Park centre when required.   Khylie has ventured in the areas of obedience trialling and has gained her CDX title with Keira her beautiful Labrador.

Pam applied for a trainers position at Oz Wagtails in 2000.  She is a well credited dog trainer having successfully trained gundogs in England for hunting and gundog trials.  She also lived in New Zealand where once again she excelled in gundog trials with breeds most people would not associate training with.  These breeds included Irish and English Setters.  Currently Pam ownes a Golden Retriever, and once again she is still a strong competitor in the obedience ring and is currently coaching many others in our advance class in the areas of competition.

Dorothy first came to Oz Wagtails some 12 years ago to train her tri-coloured Corgi.  Don't see many of these come through obedience which is a shame as part of the "working dog" group, they have a very high intellegence and this shows through the involvement Dorothy has with her two Corgies.  A highly competitive member in the obedience ring, flyball and Agility her knowlege of dog training methods have grown over the years.  A retired nurse, Dorothy starting seeking to do obedience on a serious note, she joined Oz Wagtails staff in 2004 and is now helping lots of dog owners achieve the optumium from their dogs.  She also brings lots of knowlege in the care and well being of our canine friends.
